Estate of Henry Albertson to Jacob D. Addis This Indenture made this
fourteenth day of March in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and fifty-five, between
William F. Albertson, Henry Albert
-son and Derick Albertson of War
-ren County New Jersey Executors
of Henry Albertson late of Warren County, New Jersey deceased
of the first part, and Jacob D. Addis of Warren County New
Jersey of the Second part. Witnesseth, whereas the said Henry
Albertson, deceased, in and by his last will and testament
did order and direct as follows "It is my will and I do hereby
authorize and empower my executors hereinafter named
and the survivor, and survivor of them to sell all my estate
both real and personal at public vendue to the highest
bidder and make and execute good and sufficient con
-veyances to the purchaser or purchasers of my real estate"
as by the said will, duly proved and recorded in
the Surrogates office of the County of Warren will
fully appear now this indenture witnesseth that the said William
F. Albertson, Henry Albertson and Derick Albertson executors as afore
-said, in pursuance of the power and authority to them given in
and by the said will, did advertise the same for sale at public
vendue on the sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and fifty four at the house of Henry
Albertson on the premises in the County of Warren between the
hours of twelve and five o'clock in the afternoon of that day
by advertisements signed by themselves and put up at five
or more public places in the said County of Warren, one
whereof was in the township where the said land lands
lies, at least two months before the time appointed for selling
the same, and also published in the Warren Journal, a
newspaper printed and published in this state and
circulating in the neighborhood of said lands at least
four weeks successively once a week, and preceeding the
time appointed for selling the same, and at the time and
place so advertised as aforesaid did expose the same
to sale by public vendue, and the said Jacob D. Addis
being the highest bidder, the same was between the hours
of twelve and five of the day last aforesaid struck off and
sold to him for the sum of nine thousand eight hundred
and forty seven dollars and eighty five cents. Now for the con
-sideration of nine thousand eight hundred and forty seven
dollars and eighty five cents to them paid by the said
Jacob D. Addis, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
have and by these presents do grant bargain and sell
unto the said Jacod D. Addis, his heirs and assigns all that
tract parcel of land and premises hereinafter more par
-ticularly described, situated lying and being in the town
-ship of Knowlton in the County of Warren and State of New Jersey
butted and bounded as follows viz. Beginning at a set
stone corner of Allen + Hutchinsons land and running thence
North eighty degrees east forty three chains and eighty one
links to stone corner of William Craig's land. Thence South
twenty six and a half degrees west forty one chains and thir
-teen links to a stone corner thence in the same course
one chain and ninety-three links to a stone corner thence
South forty-nine degrees east eighteen chains and five
links to a stone corner thence South fifty three degrees
west sixteen chains and thirty six links to stones by a chestnut
tree Ribbles corner thence South eighty two and a quarter
degrees west twelve chains to stones Ribbles corner, thence
South eighty degrees west twelve chains and eleven
links to stones Blairs corner thence North one and a quar
-ter degrees west sixty two chains and fifty links to the place
of beginning containing one hundred and ninety seven
acres and seventy five hundredths more or less. Excepting
and running out of the same one undivided tenth part of a portion
thereof butted and bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at a stone corner
in a line of the whole tract and running thence south twenty six
and a half degrees west one chain and ninety three links to a stone
corner thence south forty nine degrees east eighteen chains and six
links to a stone corner, thence South fifty three degrees west sixteen
chains and thirty six links to stones near a chestnut tree Ribbles
line thence South eighty two and a quarter degrees west twelve
chains to stones Ribbles line, thence on a straight line twenty
five chains and ninety four links to the place of beginning containing
twenty seven acres and forty three hundredths be the same more or less.
The one tenth of the above described tract hereby excepted belongs to
the heirs of John Cummins deceased to have and to hold unto the said
Jacob D. Addis, his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of the said
Jacob D. Addis his heirs and assigns forever. And the said William F.
Albertson, Henry Albertson and Derick Albertson do covenant and agree
with the said Jacob D. Addis, his heirs and assigns, that they have not
done any act or thing, or suffered anything to be done whereby
the said premises are or may be charged or encumbered in estate, title
or other wise. In witness whereof the said William F. Albertson, Henry Albert
-son and Derick Albertson, executors as aforesaid have hereunto set
their hands and seals the day first above written.
